Assignment 3 Task 1

Today we're going to start looking at the Space assignments. For the first task, you need to produce a model of the solar system. We will create A3 posters with diagrams of all the planets in order from the sun. You also need to include the following information for each planet:
All the information you need can be found here:
  1.  Distances from the sun
  2. Duration of one planetary orbit (planetary year)
  3. Duration of one planetary rotation (planetary day)
  4.  Temperature
  5. Diameter
  6. Number of moons

Assignment 1 Task 3

Today we're going to do the last pass criteria for the radiation assignments.  Create a poster with the heading 'nuclear power', covering the following points:
  1. How is the rate of a fission reactor controlled?
  2. Why can't we get energy from fusion reactions yet?
  3. What environmental issues are involved with nuclear waste? We'll watch a video on the board so you can answer this one.

Physcics Assignment 1 Task 2

Today we're going to be working on the second part of the assignment. Make sure you have completed the following tasks:
  1. The first assignment task is finished and handed to Mr. Cole.
  2. You have completed the poster and table from last lesson in class (For the second pass and merit criteria).
  3. If you've done all that, you can start work on the distinction.  Using one of the radioactive sources you mentioned in the table, explain why it is a good choice for the job it does. What helps it do its job? IS it dangerous to people when it does it? Are there any problems with using it for this purpose? Your answer should be a couple of paragraphs long, and written in a word document.
