Physics P1 and P2

Today we're going to start the first radiation assignment. Answer the following questions in a powerpoint:
For P1:
  1. What particles make up the nucleus?
  2. What is radioactive decay? How is it caused?
  3. Define what half life means:
Make sure you also find some diagrams to illustrate your answers!

For P2:
  1. You need to complete a table about the different kinds of radiation. Copy and complete these headings:

Stopped by:


You may need to find some more resources, as well as using the link above.

For M1:
You need to explain what the half-life of an element is (giving both definitions), using a graph to help make it clear. Are half lives the same or different for different elements? You should also include some examples of different half lives.

For D1:
You need to show how you can calculate the half life of an isotope. Create 2 sample questions and the mark schemes that the students can use to practice the calculations.
